Venturing towards the south-west of Saudi Arabia would reveal the exceptional green and fresh land yielding dates and grains courtesy of the extensive irrigation projects.

While shopping in Saudi Arabia, fresh and good quality dates, a wide range of religious paraphernalia, carpets and gold are some of the items to look for. Other popular activities include desert excursions, scuba diving, amusement parks, movie theatres and video games.

Eating in Saudi Arabia is free from restrictions and while the local cuisine is deeply influenced by the neighbouring Arab nations, fast food is particularly popular and so are curry shops and thali platters. Nightlife could be described as being non-existent and when it comes to drinks, apart from the traditional drink coffee, soft drinks, fruit juices and tap water are the usual choices. 

Accommodation in large major cities could be arranged in hotels while traditional accommodation of furnished rental apartments, known as Shigka- maafroosha, are prevalent throughout the country and can be bargained for as well.

Local conventions, laws and rules of society need to be respected in Saudi Arabia and failure to do so would not only draw attention but result in severe and harsh punishments as well.
