Visiting Khor Fakkan
What is there to do in Khor Fakkan?
- The natural backdrop of the bay lends Khor Fakkan a unique beauty and also makes it a thriving tourism spot which has a lot to offer. There is plenty to do at Khor Fakkan:
- This is an ideal place for beach lovers as the gorgeous beaches are not only meant for lazing around but also for diving, snorkelling and various other sports like water skiing and wind-surfing. There are a number of popular diving locations where you can see kingfish, tuna, barracuda and sometimes even sharks! You can also go night diving on request.
- A drive through the rugged mountains is recommended and on the way after having crossed the town is the Rifaisa Dam followed by a number of stone houses.
- Khor Fakkan has something for everyone and the historically oriented can spend a day exploring the hundred of year old fort and a four-domed mosque which had been long since destroyed by the Portuguese.
- One of the most popular tourist destinations is the Al Wurrayah Falls located at a distance of 4.5 kilometres to the north of Oceanic Hotel.
- Along the Corniche Road lies the Corniche Park, Ladies Park, Al Marjan Diving centre and the Central Souq and at the southern end of the Corniche Road lies a fish, fruit and vegetable souq which could be visited for sampling the local fresh produce.
