Global Village Dubai

Global village in Dubai is a huge event running alongside Dubai Shopping Festival during the cooler months between November and February. It started as a small operation alongside Deira Dubai Creek in 1996 and then moved to Festival City for a short time before being located to a more permanent area in Dubailand. Global Village aims to bring cultures and customs together through creative local items for sale, fabulous international food to sample and entertaining dances and performances. Additionally the Global Village experience is a very carnival feel and there are plenty of amusement rides and games to keep kids and adults of all ages entertained and busy for hours. With the rising popularity of Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai as a general hotspot to visit during the western cold season, Global Village has seen its visitor number increase every year and now welcomes over 4 million visitors each year.

Each year the Global Village hosts an annual carnival; this starts with the Dubai shopping festival but progresses onwards to include many other varied activities as well, some of the noteworthy events being the World Cultural stage, ‘Beach Adrenalin’ Jet-Ski show and the Lantern Festival featuring the Chinese lanterns. Over 60 different countries sell their traditional or typical products in pavilions mounting to over 3000 stalls, and if you are bringing your kids along then you can send them for trying the more than 30 carnival rides and fun games in order to keep them busy.

Points of note

If you are visiting the park with a disabled person or an elderly in the group then be sure to take wheel chairs to the front of the entrances. Likewise you can also take push chairs for kids.
Global Village was always a mini precursor to being part of Dubailand - but the money has dried up a little for Dubai to invest in such a huge undertaking. So, Global Village remains on its own....almost

When – Monday is the only family day in a week, which means only families are allowed. The timings are from 4pm till 12 am on Mondays as well as on Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On Thursdays and Fridays the Global Village is open from 4 pm till 1 am. Global Village is only opene mid November to end of February/early March. Check their site for more information.
How long – This depends on how much time you want to spend inside the Global village indulging in shopping, dining and going for rides. A typical visit usually lasts for 3-4 hours, but it isn’t hard to kill time in this place!
Location – The Dubai Global Village is located on the Emirates Road in Dubailand. You can easily hail a cab from your hotel and ask the driver to take you to the location.
Cost – The entry ticket costs 10 AED only. You can also opt for VIP packages if these are available, these usually includes entry tickets, VIP car pass and some fun fair coupons which are meant for rides.
Booking – No booking required, visit the Global Village during the working hours whenever you like.
