Visit Masdar, the Future City, in Abu Dhabi

Although Masdar, the carbon neutral city of the future is under construction, parts are open and if you wanted to glimpse a quick peak of the city, it’s possible you could do so. This really is a future city, and with the amount of money that has been pumped in, there is only one thing that Abu Dhabi is trying to prove, renewable energy. The strap line for Masdar – some day all cities will be built like this – is apt. You can see some of the construction in play but you’ll be able to walk through some of the grounds with a guide. The wow factor is the personal rapid transit system which is like a pod device that takes you around to your destination. Yes, truly future stuff.

Park up or get dropped off at the Masdar Institute PRT Station, and you’ll experience our one-of-a-kind driverless pod by taking the electric vehicle into the Campus. The Masdar Institute Campus also offers several retail outlets such as Sumo Sushi, Caribou Coffee, Organics Supermarket, and many more.

Points of Note:

• Upon your arrival, simply inform the security that you’re visiting Masdar Institute
• There’s not much to see just now, but it’s worth checking out if you ‘re into these things
• You should probably call up in advance to make sure you can be shown around, and you may need to consider using a work related excuse to go to some areas!
• PRT – personal rapid transit.

Location  – Very near the Airport, follow signs for the airport, then presidential flight after which you will see signs for Masdar
