Hot Air Ballooning in Abu Dhabi
One of the most unusual things to do is to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the desert by dusk – from a hot air balloon. If you haven’t been in an air balloon before, this real is amazing. The only downside is it means getting up at a crazy hour.
A driver will pick you up at roughly 430 am, before taking you the hour journey, half way towards Al Ain, to a place called Sweihan, which is where the hot air balloon lifts off. Watching the balloon get filled with helium is enjoyable enough, and there is an air of expectation amongst everyone who will share your balloon with you, usually up to 10 people maximum. Climbing in the basket is a little tricky, but all is forgotten as the heat lets loose and you lift off. The sensation of flying in a hot air balloon is indescribable, and if you can afford to do this trip, the feeling will remain with you for the rest of your life.
Point of Note:
- There is no ballooning during the Summer Months
- Don’t have a heavy night the night before!
- Wear trainers, jeans and have a cardigan or sweater just in case
- Try and use the washroom before you leave you hotel as there is no opportunity in the sky!
