TOURISM IN DUBAI
|
|
How do I get from Dubai to Abu Dhabi if I do not have a car?
You need to get to the Taxi Rank, specifically the Abu Dhabi taxi rank, since there is a seaparate one for Sharjah. Once you are there, there are a number of options. You could take the bus or a shared taxi. The buses leave fairly regularly, and the shared taxi leaves when 4 people have filled the taxi. The taxi takes about 1 hour 20 minutes, the bus 1 hour 50, depending on traffic. Both will take you to the Abu Dhabi taxi rank where you can get a local taxi to your final destination. Prices are in the cost of living spreadsheet. Alternatively, you could take a taxi directly, which is more expensive.
I am coming to Dubai to stay with my brother for a month on my summer holiday from university. Where would you suggest going away for a short break?
If you are keen to check out the region, we would recommend going to Muscat for a long weekend or a trip across Jordan for a week. These are great holiday spots in their own right. You could also venture to Egypt and Africa or further east to India, Thailand etc.
Which is the best hotel to stay at in Abu Dhabi?
Of course the best hotel is the Emirates Palace hotel, but many people will find this out of their price range. Other great hotels include the Sheraton, Hilton, the Beach Rotana and the Le Royal Meridien. All are good in their own right.
What are the top 5 things to do in Dubai, if I am coming for a week with my boyfriend?
Tastes differ, but apart from the obvious tanning at the beach and super shopping, I would suggest the following:
Arrange for a desert safari (also known as dune bashing), and indulge in some sand surfing
Go on a Big Bus tour to check out the city and the hotels (available from Wafi City and Deira City Centre Malls)
Visit the gold souk, and gasp with awe at the amount of gold on offer
Check out the Madinat Jumeirah Souk, followed by a meal at one of their restaurants and potentially a club (Trilogy)
Go for high tea at the Burj-Al-Arab (make sure you dress well!)
Also, try out a shisha. The grape flavour is apparently good! That should keep you busy and give you some proper holiday time. There's heaps more to do that you can decide on once you get here.
