HOUSING IN DUBAI
|
|
I am thinking of getting a place to stay in Sharjah. How long would it take to drive to Internet City to get to work for 730am?
Accommodation is Sharjah is generally cheaper than in Dubai, but you will be paying the price in commute time. During rush hour, you might expect to spend up to 2.5 hours in traffic, each way. Arriving to work earlier might save you half an hour, but not necessarily. With no traffic, it would probably take about 40 minutes, depending on where you stay in Sharjah.
I have received a job in Dubai Media City. Where would you suggest living so that I am not too far from work?
It is all to do with preference. However, so that you avoid the traffic as much as possible , we would suggest that you look at
accommodation at The Springs, The Greens, Dubai Marina and potentially Jebel Ali, depending on how much you wish to pay and what size accommodation you are looking at.
I am trying to look for accommodation in Abu Dhabi. Someone suggested that I need to speak to the Khalifa Committee, but since I am not yet there, what is the best way to find out about typical
apartments?
The Department of Social Services and Commercial Buildings (Also known as the
Khalifa Committee) is probably the best place to start, since they control a large percentage of the property rental in Abu Dhabi. They do have an excellent website where you can browse typical
apartments. Signing up is quick and easy and the site is particularly good in that you can view photos of the
apartments. In some instances there are virtual tours available. Bear in mind that housing is snapped up very quickly in Abu Dhabi because of current shortage predominantly in 1 and 2 bed
apartments, so what you view before you get to the UAE might not necessarily be available.
