Madinat Jumeirah - Madinat Jumeirah, or simply Madinat as many just call it, consist of a couple of hotels, restaurants, canals, a souk a theatre and then some. A truly awesome place and a great location to stay for a holiday. Even if you do not stay, the souk combines with an evening at one of the restaurants is highly recommended.

Maktoum - (also referred to as Al-Maktoum, or Makhtoum) The family that hs built Dubai to what it is today. Have ruled Dubai since 1833 when Maktoum bin Buti from the Bani Yas tribe came to power up to today with the ruler being Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

Al Maktoum bridge - One of five crossings on the Creek connecting Deira to Bur Dubai. The Al Maktoum bridge was the first to open in Dubai. In 2007 it underwent a road widening programme to ease traffic congestion.

Majlis - An Arabic term used to describe a room in a house solely used for entertaining guests. It can also mean a formal gathering of people for a function or party.

Mall of the Emirates - Currently, the largest mall in Dubai. And when we say, we mean that it may take a couple of days for the professional shopping aficionado to cover.

Malls - Dubai, amongst other things, is known for its shopping and its extravagant malls, including some of the largest in the world

Manakish - A very popular and filling snack. A simple baked dough base which can be prepared with a variety of toppings like cheese, zaatar, mince meat, vegetables and many more. It is available everywhere all day and in some places at night!

Marriage Fund - The UAE Marriage Fund was set up in 1994 to encourage UAE nationals to marry within the culture. The Fund helps by providing anything up to 100,000 Dirhams to help with the cost of the wedding or for dowries. Many weddings may occur in stadiums all at once.

Masdar - Abu Dhabi’s $15bn renewable Energy city

Medhan - A traditional coal / oil burner available in many beautiful designs.

Mubadala - Set up with intention to build new businesses and carry out acquisitions to support the diversification of Abu Dhabi.

Mussaffah – an industrial area on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi where blue collar workers live and where some new initiatives are springing up
