Festivals - Throughout the year, Dubai hosts a number of festivals. The most successful and well known is the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) which began in 1996. It quickly became a hit and was known worldwide as the only month long event dedicated to shopoholics. Last year more than 3.3 billion people visited DSF enjoying the buzz of over 4000 retailers giving huge discounts in everything shopping related and is so big that neighbouring Abu Dhabi runs huge promotions too. Dubai International Jazz Festival (DIJF) has been running since 2003 and during the 10 days, 8000 visitors enjoyed a vast blend of jazz talents. In 2007, an astounding 25,000 jazz fans attended the festival from all over UAE, GCC and Europe. Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) was launched in 2004 and since then has been a successful cultural event showcasing regional talent and Arab cinema. DIFF Management selects and categorizes the short listed films into one its 9 types.
Feshwari - If you want to go all out on interior design in Dubai, Feshwari has the largest fabric library in Dubai to produce your bespoke curtains, sofas etc.
Freezones - The UAE can be considered more offshore than onshore with the huge number of freezones available. Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City as well as Jebel Ali Free Zone are known as the most established, but there are numerous more opening up in all of the Emirates to attract investment from overseas. It has sped up the red tape for companies establishing themselves, but the downside being that the cost of operating in the freezones has rocketed.
Fujairah - Fujairah or Fujeirah is the mountainous emirate located on the west coast of the UAE. Although the city doesn’t have a great deal to do from a tourist perspective, there are still some great things to do including going to Dibba, or trekking across the mountains.
