Things to Do in Dubai – Ski Dubai

Famous more for what it achieved than as destination in itself, Ski Dubai represented the ridiculous of the impossible – build a massive indoor ski slope in the desert. It is rather good and so if the heat is really getting to you, you can cool off at Ski Dubai at the Emirates Mall. Ski Dubai is Middle East’s first indoor ski resort and the world’s largest indoor ski resort.  Ski Dubai not only looks like an Alpine ski resort it also provides an ultimate skiing experience with its five runs including the world’s first largest indoor black run, the longest of which is 400 metres with a fall of 60 metres.  Additionally there are beginner slopes and a freestyle area for the snowboarders as well as a snow park for the kids and adults.

Ski Dubai is, of course, conceptually bizarre and the space like structure viewable from the outside got the international press buzzing at the craziness of it all when it was first being built. It is unique and the mountain-themed attraction is guaranteed to provide you with complete entertainment. The snow is real – made with a year long snow making machine. This place is covered with 22,500 square meters of real snow throughout the year. Come winter or summer you can enjoy real snow whenever you like in Ski Dubai!

Points of note

Don’t worry about clothing as Ski Dubai has everything you need. You will be able to find everything from winter clothing to snowboard equipment to skis here. The skis will be there to carry you downhill while there will be quad-chairlift to help reach you to the top for another round of skiing.

Not into skiing? There are other alternatives for entertainment in Ski Dubai. You can visit any of the two unique themed restaurants: the Avalanche Café which offers picturesque views of the slope and St Moritz Café which is located right at the entrance.

Meeting the penguins is one of the cutest things you can ever do

Want to ski but don’t know how? In that case visit the Snow Pro, an exclusive retail shop which offers ski equipment as well as professional instructors who would provide you with guidance on how to ski or snowboard.
