With so many steakhouses in abundance, once you find your favourite you may never try anything different again.  Situated in the idyllic Desert Palm resort, southwest of Dubai, Rare is worth the 20 minute journey from central Dubai, just for a chance to get away from it all.  Rare doesn’t lend itself to just a steakhouse but more a grill,with the change in menu, it now offers some variety to suit dining partners not after steak such as lamb shanks.  But it’s the steaks that really are the front runner here, cut smooth as silk, this is the real taste and swallow test and they past.  The sides are equally elegant, not just your standard chips.  Ambience is lush as are the surroundings, opt to sit outside if you can, which will be the icing of your date.

MJ's Steakhouse $$$$

MJ's is always busy and thats a sure fire sign the place serves up well.  It may not be overly glitzy in it's appearance, a bit more formal yet classy and probably well suited to business lunches then for a crowd of twenty somethings to celebrate a birthday.  But if you are a meat lover and want beautiful ambience, Al Qasr has that and MJ's serves up a pretty mean selection of steaks and grills in Dubai.  A varied selection of starters on hand and even vegetarians are well catered for here, go for a very different Wagyu Beef Tartare, prepared at the tableside and for mains a great selection of grills from fish, chicken and burgers and ofcourse, the variety of steaks and chateaubriand, carved at your table.  Opt for a side of foie gras on your steak - divine! The open kitchen experience makes the restaurant lively and outdoor seating is perfect for couples, service is great and unobtrusive.  Go if you love steak!

A classic venue and a classic dining experience, Rib Room will not disappoint.  From the moment you step into the chic New York style interior, you will be greeted with fantastic service explaining the generous menu and if you require assistance in selecting your choices.  There are complementary fresh soft bagels so no need to order starters if you're not overly hungry and mains are pretty generously portioned.  Everyone raves about the excellent Wagyu Beef Tenderloin here and it is melt in the mouth along with the creamy spinach and mash truffle sides.  The Beef Wellington is also thumbs up and made for two people.  A good selection of non-meat options are also available.  We highly recommend Rib Room for any meat lover who wants to dine somewhere stylish but not pay extortionate prices. Dine at 7pm for the Early Bird Set Menu which is cheaper but also smaller quantity.  

M's Beef Bistro $$-$$$

A great selection of grills, steaks and non meat options for good value dining.  Beef selection is wide and sourced globally and the sides are served well.  Portion sizes are just right - not over, so that you can enjoy dessert (smart!) Service is good, not overly knowledgeable but who needs that when the menu is so straightforward.

St Tropez French Bistro $

This steakhouse clearly defines the true meaning of 'no frills' ! Not to say this place is dark, boring and cheap - ok maybe the latter!  St Tropez offers great food at such affordable prices without compromising on quality.  For starters, this place is not set in another hotel as all decent restaurants are, and this is actually refreshing as it can be mundane doing the same lobby walk to get to your restaurant everytime you wanted to eat out.   Instead, St Tropez is located in the Century/ Irish Village amongst several other eateries such as a Persian, Chinese, Italian and many Pub restaurants.  For the record despite not being in a hotel it is still a licensed venue. You'll find St Tropez nestled at the back of the Village Park.  Seating is not vast but you have the option of in or outside.  Inside, the decor is a but tacky but with character.  You'll be amused at the many pictures of celebrities across the walls giving the place a bistro feel.  The menu speciality is beef and lamb along with seafood and a few non veg options such as an amazing Salad Nicoise all with a French accent.  Portions are huge so beware.  This place is definitely worth checking out.

For all you steak fanatics, here’s a hot new venue which has proven to be a hit amongst tourists and locals.  Good quality steaks cooked to your liking exactly, service is friendly, just the American way and is pretty good value for money compared with other steakhouses in the same league.  The starters and the sides are equally impressive, we like the beef carpaccio and crab cakes.  Wonderful views sitting on the terrace, West 14th sits near the Oceana Beach club, perfect for pre drinks.
