South American Restaurants in Dubai

High End:

Pachanga $$$$
Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort, +971 4 318 2530

Cuisine: Mexican/Argentinian/Brazilian

For super lively atmosphere, friendly service and impressive cuisine we recommend you hit Pachanga.  This South American restaurant featuring food from Mexico, Argentina and Brazil is a sure fire thumbs up if you're up for a lively night as oppose to a quiet romantic meal.  Live music really gets you in the Americas vibe and complements the regional food served, if you are around on a Wednesday, the restaurant holds a Tango night where you receive a complementary dance lesson and then get to watch an amazing Tango performance whilst dining.  Tuesdays are the Churrasco nights where you can select from numerous cut meats for a buffet price of 195 AED.  The a la carte menu has a huge array of dishes, amongst which we recommend are the seafood and grill platters, the lobster trio for starters.  Burgers are juicy and the steaks incredible quality,  Follow the chilli symbols on the menu - if it says its hot,  it damn well is!  Great complementary starters of warm breads with different spreads including the best guacamole made to order according to your spice levels in front of your eyes - so entertaining!  Leave space for dessert, the chocolate souffle is heaven! Arriba!

Mid Range:

Latino House $$$-$$$$
Al Murooj Rotana, +971 4 321 1111

Cuisine: South American

With loud atmosphere sometimes overshadowing sizzling Mexican cuisine, Latino House is the place to eat if you want great tasting South American food but toned down atmosphere.  Set in the lovely Al Murooj Rotana, the decor is modern and trendy but lacks that South American feel.  Still we stand by Latino House as we were impressed by the great tasty food and well sized portions.  The menu serves a variety of real Mexican comfort dishes like Enchililadas but also some creative twists like chilli shrimps on mango and herb chutney.  Price wise, we've placed Latino House in our mid category although feel some dishes may be priced more than what they should be.  Set menu as well as a la carte dining options available and special kids requests will be happily provided.  In the cooler months opt to sit outside on the beautifully done floating island area.  All in all a good selection and a good all rounder place to visit.

Budget:

Loca $$
Dubai Marine Beach and Resort Spa, +971 4 346 1111

Cuisine: Tex/Mex

A fun and lively underground venue which focuses on it's huge variety of beer, served as wholesale portions i.e. by the keg and their tasty authentic Mexican grub.  Loca is the kind of place you can go in your jeans, enjoy the lively atmosphere of sports and music playing on the screen and be served delicious food with friendly service at real value for money, without compromising on quality and flavour, which can happen so frequently at the budget Mexican outlets you see at the malls.  For starters try the Jalapenos Locas if you love cheese and for mains choose from comforting favourites such Enchilidas or the best tasting Fajitas or how about something traditional such as roasted lamb wrapped in banana leaf.  Portions are cleverly sized to entice you into dessert - we loved the caramel flan.  Loca - a budget winner!

Grapeshisha Choice:

Maya by Richard Sandoval $$$$
Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort and Spa, +971 4 4 316 5550

Cuisine: Elegant Mexican

For posh Mexican grub or should we say cuisine - Maya will leave you feeling happy you got to experience a fine dining Mexican meal rather then a greasy, finger licking food supper, but with a hole in your wallet!  Maya uses the finest of ingredients and definitely cooks a twist on the usual Enchiladas and Tortillas using different fillings like shrimps and lobster, presented so neatly.   Leave space for their wickedly devilish Churros con Chocolate dessert - well worth the extra calories. If the night is young for you or if you are after a lighter bite, then full on meal , head upstairs to the Maya Lounge and enjoy a couple of drinks such as the Mojito Cuzco and mexican tapas whilst enjoying the Gulf breeze.
