High End:

Beachcombers $$$
Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai, +971 4 406 8999

If your kids have had enough of enclosed spaces this holiday, then Beachcombers will give them some stretching space in safe grounds.  As it's name suggests, Beachcombers is set on Jumeirah Beach with beautiful views of the Burj Al Arab.  Reserve in advance for a great dining spot outside as spaces will get booked up.  The menu is all based around South East Asian Buffet so Malaysian/Thai/Indonesian favourites.  Kids have their own buffet stand which serve the usual chicken nuggets, burgers and fries and kiddy favourites, but teamed with a plate of noodles - we're sure you'll find food to keep your kid and you happy.  For entertainment, the kids have their own entertainment room or can round around on the beach whilst being in safe viewing distance from you.  On brunch days there is a clown and bouncy castle - sorted!  Open daily from 7.30am - midnight, Friday Brunch 12.30 - 4pm.

Mid Range:

Noodle House $$
Jumeirah Emirates Towers, +971 4 319 8088
Souk Madinat Jumeirah, +971 4 366 6730
Dubai International Financial Centre, +971 4 363 7093
Burjuman Centre, +971 4 352 6615

Cuisine: Chinese/Thai

Bright decor, huge open room with long tables and benches should get the kids thinking they're back in the their school dining hall allbeit with a cheery renovation.  Hopefully the decor alone will assure them that this may not be such a bad dining experience.  The great thing about Noodle House is the quick turnaround of your meal, but this also depends on what time time you dine so with kids in tow, a midday lunch or 5pm dinner should give you decent enough service. The kids menu comprises of some really tasty colourful and healthy options such as tempura fish with brocolli, chicken/salmon with vegetable noodles or vegetable rice.  For adults, the menu is vast with a selection of chinese, thai and indonesian options.  Take note, it may not be one of the the best Thai Green curries you've had, but its good food and remember, you are dining here mainly for the kid friendly options!

Cafe Ceramique $$-$$$
Jumeirah Town Centre, +971 4 344 7331
Dubai Festival City, +971 4 232 8616

Cuisine: Soups/Salads/Sandwiches/Selected Hot Snacks and Kids Menu

Kids will automatically remind you of their Cafe Ceramique crave every couple of weeks.  This is one of those special places that you and your child will never tire of.  Cafe Ceramique provides a calm, peaceful experience - a welcome change from those loud, crowded mall play areas, plus - you don't have the messy clean up job to deal with afterward!  The Cafe Ceramique chain operates in three branches across Dubai; Jumeirah Town Centre, Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Festival City.  Go to Cafe Ceramique for a morning of painting and then break for lunch.  Items to paint are displayed on the shelves around the restaurant and you can select however many you'd like to paint, they range from plates, cups and ornaments and all priced separately.  Grab your table and paints and get creative.  Food served is not bad at all, infact the variation on offer is huge considering the primary focus of this venue is an art cafe.  Kids selections are good and healthy alternatives are available and their dessert treats are yum.  A fun filled half- day out for both you and your little one(s).  Collect your work of art after 1 week.  Please note, we've placed this venue in the mid range category purely because of the extra cost of ceramique painting.  The price is totally dependent on how many pieces you paint and how much you eat. Open daily from 9am till Midnight.

Budget:

Spur Steakhouse Ranch $
Festival Centre, Dubai Festival City, +971 4 232 8866

Cuisine: Burgers/Steakhouse

At some point, you will have to cave in to the kids and go with the 'least healthy' option for dining, but atleast Spur isn't fast food.  This famous South African chain has only recently opened and already proving popular with the Dubai scene, so much so that when we visited, they didnt accept reservations and we had to wait a bit to be seated.  The menu has a huge variety of juicy steaks, burgers, seafood and chicken combos with fries, all with a side helping of salad and the dishes taste great and dont feel processed. Vegetarians are catered for somewhat, but if you are after a gourmet soup and salad option, you may lack options.  The real pulling point of Spur is the instant friendly and cheerful manner as you step into the restaurant. Kids are given a warm welcome and given a show round to the enclosed entertainment area which has a soft play feature and arcade games for older kids.  The interior is bright and fun and the whole experience, we must admit was so smooth.  Ideal place to eat for when you crave a 'greasy day!' Oh yes - and super friendly on the wallet!  Open Sunday - Wednesday: 10am - 10pm, Thursday - Saturday: 10am - 11pm

Pizza Express $-$$

Dubai Mall (Kidzania), +971 4 448 5221
Dubai Emirates Towers, +971 4 331 8480

Cuisine: Pizza/Pasta/Salads/Kids Menu.

A great alternative to the greasy burgers, nuggets and fries which we always cave into amongst a crowded mall food court.  Pizza Express is a chain we all know and love and fall back on if all else fails.  Adults will always find something they like on the menu, but let's face it - this section is about the kids, and Pizza Express have all the tools necessary to ease your toddler or easily bored child onto the table and stay there for atleast 45 minutes!  High chairs are in abudance and staff don't appear fazed at tantrums - they've seen it all before.  Try and make an appearance for an early lunch or dinner and the Chef may even let your little ones decorate their own Pizza, if the restaurant is not too busy.  All this fun, plus crayons, activity sheet and a child who is now a convert to tomatoes and mushrooms - wow!  Open daily Midday - 11.30pm.
