Dazzling Dubai

Does Dubai need an introduction? Yes – but only if you had been living on Mars for the last 10 years. Dubai has managed to grab all the headlines in every newspaper and current affairs programme all over the world. It has had an unrivalled infrastructure programme, a tourism boom, rejuvenation of region – but it has also had the bad press, especially when Dubai defaulted on its debt and had to take a bailout from Abu Dhabi. In reality, this was a further coming together of the Emirates in unity, but behind the scenes, it was a slowdown in acceleration that the more brash Emirate had enjoyed over the last few years. That doesn’t mean that Dubai is all over. Dubai is a fantastic venue for those who long bling and enjoy the finer things in life.

Indeed, Dubai is the Middle East Entrepreneur’s utopia, where many have made a quick buck developing and selling businesses from scratch, pushing property prices through the roof only to see them come crashing down again. But Dubai is glam and bling, smart and forward thinking, and even without the buckets of foreign investment, with the forethought of Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Makhtoum, Dubai will prevail.

Visiting Dubai is somewhat indescribable. From the Palm and World, the reclaimed islands off the coast of Dubai, to the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world to the Burj Al Arab, the blingest hotel in the world. The list goes on, and when you think a record can’t be broken, Dubai does it again.

A trip to Dubai is a must for anyone travelling to the UAE. No doubt, anyone visiting Abu Dhabi for the first time will have already visited Dubai at some point, and if not, intend to.  If you have visited Dubai before, you will be aghast at what has changed, and so any business trip to Abu Dhabi, warrants some additional downtime in Dubai. Many people who have visited Dubai for many years, now party it up in Dubai before relaxing for the last few days in Abu Dhabi or places like Oman. But Dubai has a lure to it like no other. If you like Dubai, you will return.
