Where can I find out the official prayer times in the UAE?
Of course, you could wait for the call to prayer, but that's the obvious answer. The times are announced in the newspapers every day. However, if you want to check online, try Al Baharr which will give you the exact times for each city. Some government offices standardise Dhuhr at midday or 1pm.
Are women allowed to drive?
That's just a rumour. In most countries in the Gulf women do drive, and many are safer than the men! The place that you are getting confused with is in Saudi Arabia where women are not allowed to drive, but in the UAE it is fine.
I thought that there were only 5 prayers a day, why are six listed in the press?
Prayers at dawn should be offered at dawn, but can be offered at the time listed as Shuruq.
What is the Qibla arrow that I see in the hotels?
The Qibla shows the direction of Mecca, the direction that Muslims must pray. You may even get electronic Qiblas shown on Middle Eastern aircraft.
