Iconic Buildings in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi has some stunningly impressive architecture, with more in the offing. These are the buildings we think you should see and pass by from the outside, and check them off your list. You’ll probably end up going to some of them anyway, but with places like the leaning tower of Abu Dhabi being more slanty than the leaning tower of Pisa, it’s best to be aware of them!

  1. Sheikh Zayed Mosque – the modern day Taj Mahal – can be seen on entry and on exit to the city – located near the Al Maqta Bridge near the airport
  2. Emirates Palace – one of the most expensive buildings ever made – located at the end of the Cornice near the break water on the way to Marina Mall
  3. The Leaning Tower of Abu Dhabi (Capital Gate) – world’s slantiest building – near ADNEC and off Khaleej Al Arabi before Mussafah Bridge
  4. The Aldar HQ – The enormous discus, that attracts sand as soon as it has been cleaned – On Al Raha Beach on the way to Dubai
  5. The Yas Hotel – sleek and built around the Formula 1 race track – Yas Island
  6. Ferrari World – the reddest building in the world? – Yas Island
  7. Central market residential tower – will be the tallest building in Abu Dhabi at 374 metres – location: Khalifa Street.
  8. Abu Dhabi Investment Authority Building – currently the tallest building in Abu Dhabi at 185 metres – location: half way down the corniche.
  9. Qasr Al Hosn Fort – the oldest building and the white fort in Abu Dhabi – location Hamdan and Khalid bin al Waleed St.
  10. The AdNoc HQ – this is where all the oil is controlled.
