Al Reem Island

A New Residential and Cultural Hub

Reem is one of Abu Dhabi’s major residential and commercial projects.  Located just a kilometre away from downtown Abu Dhabi, Reem Island will be a city within a city and eventually house just over 200,000 inhabitants and have amenities such as schools, healthcare, offices and leisure. Three main developments are in the pipeline:  Shams Abu Dhabi, will contain 100 skyscrapers including an 83 storey Sky Tower all housing a mix of residential and business areas around a marina and mangrove forest; Najmat Abu Dhabi, will be a community of schools, offices, retail, hotels and cultural centres all built in traditional and modern themes; and Marina Square will be a commercial development around a marina and enclosed with another 15 towers.  It is planned to include floating art galleries, restaurants, entertainment all surrounded by water and a five star hotel operated by the famous Movenpick.  Al Reem also plans to keep to ethical living means by way of keeping waste and use of natural resources to a minimum by centralising the gas network and introducing a new automated vacuum waste collection system – the largest in the world.  Reem Island is planned for completion in 2023 and property on Reem Island is available to all nationalities to buy on extendable 99 year leasehold.
